This class will allow teenagers to use their microphones and webcams. Parents must be the one to sign up for this class and offer consent in the sign-up process.
This class is 2 nights long and features the basics of misophonia, misophonia research, science related to neurological functioning, and coping skills. This is not therapy, or group counseling. This is an educational class based on Regulate, Reason and Reassure. If you would like to look over the content of the course, you may do so by reading the book that comes with the course.

By signing up for this class, you the parent, consent to the following:
- This class will be held live, and since this involves minors under the age of 18, this class WILL NOT BE offered as a recording. All attendees must be present for the actual event.
- This class is not therapy. If your child requires a mental health professional, please contact your local mental health services. Alternatively, you can check for a clinician on our provider network: misophoniaproviders.com
- The attendee must be 13 years of age or older to attend.
- If preferred, your teenager can use a “fake name” or only their first name on zoom.
- Respect for your child’s identity, as well as your own, will be maintained throughout this process and not shared with individuals outside of this class.
- If your child feels uncomfortable, you will be present and nearby to step-in and remove them from the class.
Dr. Jennifer Jo Brout is the Director of the International Misophonia Research Network). She is a New York State Certified School Psychologist, a Connecticut Professional Licensed Counselor, and holds a Doctorate in School/Clinical-Child Psychology. Disappointed by her own experiences with the state of the field when seeking help for her own child in 1999, Dr. Brout began efforts to establish better research practice, improved diagnosis, and innovative clinical practice related to auditory over-responsivity. Dr. Brout has been at the forefront of research in this area for over 18 years, having established the Sensation and Emotion Network (SENetwork) in 2007, along with Sensory Processing and Emotion Regulation Program at Duke University in 2008 (now the Misophonia and Emotion Regulation Program. She graduated from New York University, Columbia University, and Ferkauf School of Psychology (at Albert Einstein School of Medicine) respectively. She is also the mother of adult triplets, and is a Misophonia sufferer herself.
